  • Research Fields

      Long-term engaged in the marine bioinformatics. Participated in scientific research voyages in China's offshore and deep-sea areas. During the scientific expedition in the Xisha area of the South China Sea on the Deep - Sea Warrior manned submersible, was rated as an Advanced Worker.

      Published the first genome of the Arctic fish Anisarchus medius, the first genome of a deep-sea cold-seep gastropod, and the first transcriptome of an in  situ fixed hadal sea cucumber. Also, identified a new species (a sea anemone from the trough) and simultaneously released its high-quality genome. Through research on the hadal snailfish, explored its molecular mechanisms of deep-sea adaptation and found that gut symbiotic bacteria might be involved in its adaptation to high hydrostatic pressure. Put forward the original view of the molecular convergent evolution of deep-sea megafauna and won the Excellence Award of the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Developed the self-developed AI model BERT-DomainAFP to predict antifreeze proteins in the genomes of polar fish, constructed the first genome database of Pseudomonas plecoglossicida (https://pplecoglossicida.fafu.edu.cn/), and explored the cultivation and phylogeographic evolution history of seaweeds.

    Current main research directions:

    (1) Biological adaptation and evolution in extreme marine environments such as the deep sea, Antarctic, and Arctic.

    (2) Biological genomics and disease prevention in aquaculture waters related to organisms like large yellow croakers and Pseudomonas plecoglossicida.
